UnitedHealthcare Government Programs
Kristi Fowler is a passionate advocate for pharmacy-led programs, continually striving to enhance the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system. Holding a degree from the Medical University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy, Kristi has a background in retail and home infusion pharmacy practice. Since 2016, she has supported Managed Medicaid at UnitedHealthcare and served on the Virginia Medicaid Drug Utilization Review Board until January 2025.
Kristi established and directs the UnitedHealthcare Pharmacy Care Hub program, designed to bridge the gap in primary healthcare by leveraging the accessibility and expertise of community pharmacies. This program expands the scope of care for pharmacists, integrates them into healthcare teams, and utilizes telehealth, advanced data analytics, and digital health tools to improve health outcomes, reduce hospital readmissions, and provide cost-effective care, particularly in rural and underserved communities.
In recognition of her efforts to improve patient care in these communities through the advancement of the profession of pharmacy, Kristi was awarded the 2021 NASPA Excellence in Innovation Award.
