Session Description: Medication Therapy Management (MTM) programs are often designed around Medicare populations, but commercial populations present distinct opportunities and challenges. This session will showcase a detailed analysis of a fully-insured commercial health plan in the ACA marketplace, focusing on how MTM services, particularly Comprehensive Medication Reviews (CMR), positively impact both patient retention and medication use quality. In the first year of the program, patient retention was 8% higher for those who received CMR services, indicating a significant improvement in patient engagement. Building on this success, year two incorporated direct patient feedback, offering a deeper understanding of the patient experience and highlighting specific areas for program enhancement.
Beyond patient retention, this session will provide insights into how MTM services contributed to improved medication use quality. Attendees will learn about the methods used to evaluate medication adherence, medication safety, and the overall quality of care within this population. This real-world data demonstrates the critical role of CMRs in optimizing therapy and driving value-based outcomes. By integrating patient feedback with data-driven insights, this session will offer practical strategies for tailoring MTM programs to commercial populations, ensuring improved patient satisfaction, better quality of care, and enhanced program performance.
Learning Objectives:
Evaluate the impact of CMR on patient retention within a commercial population using year 1 data
Analyze direct member feedback collected in year 2 to identify key insights on patient satisfaction and opportunities for enhancing MTM services
Discuss the effect of MTM interventions on improving medication use quality, including medication adherence and safety
